About
Being an Educator A practical online workshop series for clinical educators Being clinically capable does not automatically make teaching easy. Clinical nurse educators are expected to explain clearly, build confidence, correct unsafe practice, facilitate reflection and make fair decisions about competence—often while balancing time pressure, competing priorities and very different learner needs. The Clinical Educator Workshop Series is a five-part live online workshop series designed to help educators become more deliberate about how people learn in clinical environments. This is not a program about delivering more information. It is about creating the conditions in which clinicians can participate, practise, think, receive feedback and carry learning back into their work. What the program explores Across the five workshops, participants will explore: how emotional culture and psychological safety influence participation; why learning is forgotten and how retrieval, spacing and active learning can help; how to structure preparation, pre-briefing, simulation and debriefing; how to move from telling learners what went wrong to facilitating useful reflection; how to distinguish coaching, formative feedback and evaluation; and how to make competency assessment more consistent, transparent and fair. Each two-hour webinar combines concise teaching with reflection, discussion, breakout activities and practical application. Participants will work on a real clinical education challenge and progressively develop: an Emotional Culture Charter; an Active Learning Redesign Plan; a Simulation Phase Map; a feedback and debriefing practice tool; a Competency Calibration Checklist; and a personal Educator Action Plan. Short pre-work activities help participants arrive ready to contribute. Between sessions, they can apply ideas in their own clinical education setting and bring what they notice back to the group.
